I am preparing to query this novel. The story has been beta read and edited. I'd recommend it to Young Adult audiences who like fast paced fantasies.
In the midst of an Ice Age, 16 year old Feyt blames himself when Ice Wolves kill his mother and sister. Vowing revenge, he sneaks after the Hunter's Band formed to chase the wolves. Discovered and allowed to stay in the group, he travels with them into the growing ice tundra to the north.
There, in an ice cave, they discover a City of Ice; the frozen buildings are full of carved ice statues of people, carts, and animals. Falling into an exhausted sleep in the city after a long day exploring its strangeness, the band is awoken and arrested by guards. The City of Ice has turned real with living people who are upset to find armed strangers have appeared in their midst. Feyt meets the princess of the Ice City, Persei, just days short of her 16th birthday when she will become Queen of the city. The Band is interrogated all day and when the day ends they are locked in a locked cell to sleep. They awake to find the city refrozen and everyone once again statues of ice. The Ice Wolves pursue them back to his village of Caernall where they find the village is about to go to war. As an epic struggle ensues, Feyt and his friends fight to free the Ice Princess and her city from their spell, and Feyt's friend Selice reveals feelings for him and he must struggle between a relationship with both the princess and his life-long friend. Who will win Feyt's torn heart, Selice or the princess Persei? And what is the meaning of the blank silver medallion left to him by his lost father? Meanwhile Feyt's village of Caernall is beset by enemies. Ergas Holm and the Freebriars are closing their noose around the town and a siege is immanent. Obsessed with his desire for revenge and his guilt over the death of his mother and sister, can Feyt rise to meet this new challenge? Brittainy - When she was just One...My sweetie is 20 something now. How time flies.
I hope to upload the rest of my clan. I have 9 children and 9 grandchildren. Still I feel young enough at heart to flail my clay-moor at William Longshanks or to draw my smoke-wagon and take justice within my own hands. Let us always be as little children, playing in the marvels that God has wrought for us. The more Science learns, the more we know what it is that we do not know. And what we do not know, exceeds what we do. "Coincidence is how God makes physics work." C.J.Cherryh, |
